Shaving the Way to Conquering Childhood Cancer

West Orange, NJ, August 2010 — On September 18, NJ copywriter Lisa Fahoury is getting the haircut of a lifetime. She's volunteered to go under the clippers at a St. Baldrick's event to raise money for childhood cancer research — going bald in solidarity with kids battling this terrible disease.

The fundraising event will be held at The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh Club, 648 Prospect Avenue in West Orange, New Jersey, starting at 3PM. Joining Fahoury in the head-shaving is her husband, Raymond, and an ever-growing number of shavees (24 to date) and St. Baldrick's volunteers.

Says Lisa Fahoury, "I'm thrilled and touched with all the calls and emails expressing support, and the unbelievably generous donations from our clients, colleagues, friends, and family. St. Baldrick's is proof that one person, one shaved head, even one dollar can make a difference in the fight against childhood cancer.”

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the St. Baldrick's Foundation began as a challenge between three businessmen who wanted to give back to the community and created St. Baldrick's. The first St. Baldrick’s event took place on March 17, 2000 in New York City. Since then, the organization has raised nearly $90 million to support childhood cancer research. Fahoury Serves on "Pitch-It" Panel for NJAWBO WBC

Newark, NJ, March 2010 - Marketing is all about being memorable. And nowhere is it more important to be memorable than in your elevator pitch or business introduction.

That's why Fahoury Ink's Chief Creative Officer Lisa Fahoury jumped at the opportunity to serve on a recent "Pitch-It" Panel for the NJAWBO Women's Business Center (WBC) during its daylong E3 conference at NJPAC.

Says Fahoury, "Whether you're engaging with a prospect, meeting with a potential funding source, or chatting with someone who could become a strategic ally, your pitch is one of the most important tools in your business arsenal."

According to Penni Nafus, Director, NJAWBO's Women's Business Center and organizer of the event, the panel was conceived as a fast-paced, instant feedback vehicle for business owners to deliver their three-minute pitch and have it assessed from various perspectives: that of a marketer, a lender, and a business consultant.

"Lisa was asked to be the marketing representative because of her extensive experience in the industry, her commitment to helping business owners succeed, and her ability to make quick and accurate evaluations of marketing initiatives," says Nafus.

Fahoury and her fellow panelists, Mary Adelman, Assistant Director, Centenary College Small Business Development Center, and Darlene DeRitter, Assistant VP and Commercial Loan Officer, TD Bank, offered feedback to over a dozen participants over the course of the day. "It was interesting to witness the variety of approaches these entrepreneurs took in crafting their pitches," she says, "and personally very rewarding to be able to offer guidance on how each participant might consider strengthening their presentation."
